  • Identity document or passport
  • Valid physical driver’s license for all drivers (the license must be issued by the same country that issued the identity document)
  • A bank-issued credit card in the name of the rental agreement holder as a guarantee. Prepaid, rechargeable, and/or virtual cards are not accepted as guarantees

What type of insurance is included in the vehicle rental?

The rental includes mandatory third-party liability coverage up to the legal limits established by law.

For damage, the rented vehicle has a deductible. Any damages up to the deductible amount are the customer’s responsibility. This amount must be paid in case of an incident. The rental agreement holder is responsible for any damage, rollover, or theft up to the deductible amount. Misuse or negligence is not covered by the insurance, and damages must be paid 100%. Locks and windows are covered only in case of theft or robbery with a police report. Weather-related or other damages are not covered.

What is a deductible?

The deductible is the amount of money the customer must cover out of pocket for any damages that may occur during the rental period. Credit card details are recorded in the rental agreement as a guarantee. The included insurance has a deductible for damages and another for rollover or frontal collision, detailed in the contract. The premium insurance (available at an additional cost, see services) reduces the deductibles by 50%

The use of two-wheel drive vehicles is limited to Bariloche and its surroundings (Villa la Angostura, San Martín de los Andes, Traful, El Bolsón, Lago Puelo, Esquel, Trevelin). Routes south of Trevelin on Route 40 or the Chilean Austral Highway towards southern Chile can only be undertaken with 4×4 vehicles. What happens with traffic violations received during the rental period?

We understand that receiving a ticket is not good news, but it is out of our control. The payment must be made to the issuing authority. The ticket will detail the amount, payment methods, and deadlines. It is important to pay promptly, as there is usually a discount for early payment. Unfortunately, we cannot predict how many tickets you might receive or when you might receive them, as we do not drive the vehicle during your rental period nor are we responsible for issuing tickets and sending them in a timely manner. We receive them as the vehicle owner and forward them to the responsible renter as per the signed contract

What do I need to know about driving in winter with snow or ice?

All our two-wheel-drive vehicles are equipped with snow/ice tires during the winter period (June 1 to September 21). These tires are safe but not infallible. Additionally, an emergency chain set is provided in the trunk. Using the chains has a cost as noted in the contract, and their proper installation and use are the driver’s responsibility.

  • In case of snowfall or ice, and if you lack experience or feel unsafe, we recommend not using the vehicle until conditions improve. Some days it may not be possible to drive.
  • Always check the weather and road conditions before traveling, especially if you need to drive to nearby towns. Weather conditions change quickly and vary from place to place
  • Avoid sudden braking as the car may skid, and you could lose control.
  • Do not stop or park on the roadway or in dangerous spots for yourself or others.
  • Use the gearbox to reduce speed, especially on downhill slopes.
  • On uphill slopes, maintain momentum and a constant speed without sudden acceleration whenever possible
  • Maintain a greater distance from the vehicles ahead and be attentive to other drivers.
  • Correct chain installation for snow is your responsibility. Chains should be used only when the road is completely covered in snow and should be removed immediately once the road is clear. Using chains on asphalt will damage both the chains and the vehicle, and you will be responsible for repair costs
  • Windshield wipers should be raised, and their operation turned off. If they freeze stuck to the windshield, the motor may burn out, and repair costs will be your responsibility.
  • Do not attempt to remove ice or snow from the windshield with the wipers. Clear snow and ice from the outside and additionally use the heater with the defroster for about 5 minutes before starting to drive
